Check out that awesome craft services spread (Thanks, Kelsey Rowland!)

This past Saturday I directed a women’s rights advocacy video called “This Is My Body.” I co-wrote the project with Siobhan O’Loughlin. Here are some behind the scenes stills. More to come this week and leading up to the premiere of the finished project.

The video will be premiering online early this summer.

Opening night of the Manhattan International Film Festival, January 2012.

On April 16, 2012, I visited a film class and hosted a screening of my short films at Towson University. About 20+ people attended the screening, which is a pretty good turnout for a Monday night event at Towson.

In the photos above, I’m answering questions after the screening.

Finalist for the Nashville Film Festival

"The Choi Family" was recently a finalist for admittance to the Nashville Film Festival. In the end it wasn’t accepted, but it’s rare to be told your film is a finalist for consideration (usually you just get a rejection notice) and it was great to know my film was valued enough that it was considered until the very last second.

On to the next festival!

"The Garden" In The Classroom

"The Garden" screened in a number of classrooms at an Upstate New York school over the past two weeks. The film was used as a complement to a story the students were reading about an urban garden and was used to enhance the lesson. The teachers and students responded very positively to the film.

Here’s one reaction to the film:

"Thanks for sharing your brilliance! The impact on the kids is huge! You brought to life something that is often times too obscure for some of them to grasp."

Thanks, Kristan Rojas, for bringing my film to the school’s attention!

The Garden @ The U.N.

My film The Garden will be screening at the United Nations on Monday, April 16th at 6:30pm.

If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP to Alexis Kende at alexis@wya.net by April 13th. Admission is free. Attire is business casual. All are welcome!
